This is surprising how we actually forget to wash our hands before we wash our face. Imagine the innumerable surfaces that our hands come in contact with, resulting in accumulation of dirt and bacteria. Therefore, not washing your hands before washing your face transmits all the germs, causing itchiness, rashes and even breakouts.

2. Overwashing

If you've been dealing with oily skin then you may be guilty of washing your face every now and then for a squeaky clean canvas. However, that's incorrect. Too much washing can stimulate unwanted all production to combat the dryness caused by frequent washing. Restrict it to twice a day wherein you gently massage the facewash with your palms and rinse off.

There's no denying the fact that we get carried away with the attractive advertisements these cosmetic companies make, promising flawless skin. We tend to buy these products without even realizing if they will suit on our skin type. In such a case, you should always follow a safe rule by picking up a hydrating, cream based product if you have normal to dry skin and gel based products for oily skin.
Do keep a check on the ingredients of the product you're using! (Stay away from Sulphates)

4. Incorrect application of facewash or cleanser

Do you wet your skin before putting the dime of your face wash? You should! While cleansers are to be used on dry skin, face wash requires damp skin to work efficiently. Apply them in a circular motion with the tips of your finger and rinse after a minute (or less) of massaging.

5. Unbalanced Exfoliation

We often tend to exfoliate every other day or not at all.  Little do we understand that moderation is the key. Excessive scrubbing (especially with coarse face scrubs) can irritate the skin whereas delayed scrubbing can make your skin look dull owing to the accumulation of dirt and dead cells.

6. Rinsing with hot water

No, this has nothing to do with "Hot water opens your pores". While hot water can be very relaxing after a long tiring day but it can dry up your skin leading to dehydration in the longer run. Substitute your hot water with lukewarm water and get the best of both worlds.
