Coronavirus has affected lakhs of people across the globe. To slow the outbreak of this pandemic hand hygiene and social distancing are a must. But beyond all these precautions, there's a lot more that you can and must do at home to fight off coronavirus and other viruses that you may be exposed to.
1. Practise Breathing Exercises
To win over coronavirus, you must prepare your respiratory system to be strong. To make this happen, practice pranayamas like Kapal Bhati, Bhastrika, and Anulom Vilom. These will help you fight back the infection when it's in the nascent stage.2. Sanitize All Newly Bought Items
If you have recently received any parcel or bought packets of food and milk, don't get excited. Just follow the norm. There are chances of transmission through these items. Sanitize all of them by washing them off and putting them away in the sunlight (or store in your kitchen) for at least three to six days before using them.3. Change Your Clothes Immediately
While the entire country is in lockdown, we all have to go out to buy the essential items like food and dairy. Cover yourself while you move out. As soon as you are back, take off your clothes and wash them off. Surf and water will wash away this virus just like it does for our hands. If washing them immediately is not possible, throw them out in the sunlight or dip them in your surf and water mixture.4. Drink Warm Fluids
Coronavirus is known to enter your body from eyes, nose, or mouth and then create a layer of mucus in your respiratory tract that further solidifies and chokes your respiratory tract. Drink hot fluids like warm water, tea, or coffee every half an hour to avoid the settle of the virus in your tract.5. Inhale Steam Twice A Day
Coronavirus affects lungs and heart the most. To avoid it from entering your lungs, gargle with antiseptics like saline water, betadine, or diluted apple cider vinegar. After this inhale the steam. As per the news, this virus slows down in hot temperatures, so inhaling steam will be really beneficial.6. Clean Frequently Touched Surfaces (Including Your Phone)
There are germs on the surface of your doorknob, fridge handle, and even your phone. While some of them can be harmless but some can be really gross (you remember those acne breakouts despite following a healthy diet? You know the culprit now!). Coronavirus can stay on metallic surfaces for upto 9 days. If you are washing your hands frequently, it makes all the more sense to wash all these frequently touched surfaces too. Wipe all these surfaces with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl).
7. Eat Right
Your immunity system is going a play a huge role in protecting you and fight back with this virus if it enters your body. To keep it strong, ensure you intake foods rich in Vitamin C and Zinc. Incorporate nuts, salads, fruits, and vegetables in your diet. Eat lots of citric fruits like oranges, lemons, etc.Bonus Tip:
Mother Nature has cures for all problems in this world. If something has risen, it is bound to go back to where it evolved from. While we all practice social distancing to make this happen, there's a home remedy that you can follow to avoid any virus from entering your body:Boil mustard oil (Sarson ka tail) in a pan, now add a sacred fig leaf (Peepal ka Patta) to it. Once the color of the leaf has changed, turn off the flame. Once the oil gets cooled down, pour it in a container. Lather this oil on your exposed skin including your face and arms, and using your fingertip, layer up your nostrils (from the inside) with this. This will help prevent any virus from entering the body.
